First we tried to take some nice photos of the boys all ready for their first day - that had some mixed results too.
Levi was surprisingly confident and happy to see his new classroom - as soon as he saw his name on the door he was happy & didn't seem worried at all - what a relief! His teacher opened their room a little early to allow everyone to put their things away & see where their desk was etc before asking them to line up at the door as usual which was a big help. His desk, of course, is right in front of the teacher - lets hope that helps keep him out of mischief! He started to get a bit worried as we said goodbye but his teacher quickly asked him to be the line leader and he pretty much forgot all about us from that point. Phew! Love you too little man.
Finn was less excited by now and ran through a list of excuses as to why he couldn't go to school today. Geoff came down from the office to help us carry all their books etc in and to help with the first drop-off and Finn rather firmly attached himself around his leg. Can I just say at this point how grateful I was that Levi was still happy & confident because if he seemed at all unsure I think Finn would have totally lost it but because he kept looking to Levi to see what he thought - he kinda held it together. He had to be "gently assisted" into the classroom though and stayed very close while we unpacked all his supplies into his little tray. His teacher was lovely and tried to talk with him but he was just too shy - hopefully he'll open up in no time and we assured her that once he does - she may have trouble getting him to stop talking! It is his birthday tomorrow so hopefully some birthday cupcakes may help him break the ice.
In the end he did start to cry as we left and his teacher had to pull him away a little but I think (?!) he stopped fairly quickly from what I could see from my not so ninja attempts at peeking in afterwards. Apparently he was spotted playing happily in the playground at break time so hoping he settled in ok.
So I am now back at home with my littlest man who by the way is LOVING the only-child life! I am keen to spend some quality time alone with Jett who hasn't had me to himself much at all, although with another 2 years before he can go to school we have plenty of time together! Life with one child at home may take a bit of getting used to.... but I'm up for the challenge!
